NDP Candidate Advocates for a 15% Across the Board Cut in Teacher's Pay
Marco Coletta, the NDP candidate for Richmond Hill, used his nomination meeting to call out teachers and urge a sweeping cut to their collectively-bargained salaries

TORONTO—Marco Coletta, the NDP candidate for Richmond Hill, used his nomination meeting to call out teachers and urge a sweeping cut to their collectively-bargained salaries:

  • “I think that the teachers unions should come to the table and say, you know what, 'we're willing to do a 15-percent cut across the board.' ”

  • “We need to start--I hate to, especially when I'm talking to teachers, I hate to say that maybe there needs to be a pay cut…”

  • “I don't think that the teachers unions come to the table all the time and say, 'yeah, those schools need to be funded'...”

Perhaps NDP Leader Andrea Horwath could explain her candidate’s views.
